Mistah Wilson has been publishing ThaWilsonBlock Magazine for several years now. After 62 monthly issues and 67 weekly issues, Mistah Wilson has decided to experiment with a Seasonal release to better allocate resources and build value to it's beautiful front covers. Since the beginning, thawilsonMAG has been available for free viewing and instant download. Today, it's not free anymore.
ThaWilsonBlock Magazine is now exclusively available to paying subscribers. The monthly plan starts at just $9/mo or you can Save $48 by subscribing for the year for only $60.
But, Mistah Wilson didn't just spontaneously decide to implement paid subscriptions. Nothing made him feel like he's been missing out on the digital market share in the world of subscriptions. Wilson decided to start charging subscriptions for ThaWilsonBlock Magazine because he found purpose. With the vast amount of media out today, there is no brand quite like ThaWilsonBlock. Mistah Wilson committed this publication to local arts. And instead of fundraising, he figures he can use a paid-subscription service to his magazine to fund a local arts development studio for artists and entrepreneurs.
"That's what this is all about," says Mistah Wilson in a recent off-the-record meeting with other artists. "We want to build a foundation for the local music scene to help prepare them for their unconventional career path in the arts." Wilson claims that since he's been promoting local talent for so long, he knows exactly what the game is missing. So much talent in our communities and no demand for them because no one is pointing them in the right direction. He goes on to argue that major record labels have done us a "disservice" and are 'in the way' of progress.
Progress for the record label may not match the progress of the artist. After all, this is a capitalistic society where winners take all. But, it's going to take a very special someone to bridge the gap. To make the necessary sacrifices and moves to pave the way for the now & next generation of local talent.
ThaWilsonBlock Magazine releases digital issues, however, all the content inside stems back to a link on their website. Virtually all issues of ThaWilsonBlock Magazine contain content that links back to the blog. But, now that the publication is exclusive, you may have noticed that thawilsonblockmagazine.com is no longer active.
Before you can access www.thawilsonblockmagazine.com, you must subscribe here. Once subscribed, you will have access to www.thawilsonblockmagazine.com ONLY while you are signed into the Gmail account you used when you subscribed.
Why should you subscribe to ThaWilsonBlock Magazine? Well, because you will be helping amplify the voice of local talent in any community. Through paid subscriptions, this will enable Mistah Wilson to open up an artist development center and host a plethora of free and cost-effective services that will strengthen ThaWilsonBlock platform for our guests and artists.
Also, with going seasonal, Mistah Wilson is designing his next issue (Spring 2020 Edition) to be optimized for print! In fact, you can Pre-Order the very first hard copy issue of ThaWilsonBlock Magazine right now! Wilson says that Hard Copies will cost $100 each and will be Special Collector's items since they'll be exclusively available for those who are proud to pay. I mean, after 129+ digital issues, it's fair to say a hard copy of such publication would be a "Special Collector's". Hard Copies will include an annual digital subscription to daily content, a street sign product, and an admission ticket to a private pop-up release event.
Mistah Wilson also just launched what he's calling "The Local Music Survey" to better understand the needs of the local arts communities and how he can best serve. Take The Local Music Survey now! It takes only a couple of minutes to complete.
